Build it like benjyfishy and MrSavage!

About the Book

The Battle Royale video game Fortnite was a phenomenal success for the esports industry, generating billions of dollars in revenue for the developer Epic Games. It also offered career pathways and opportunities for talented young people; from professional players to managers and agents, to content creators and casters.

In this book, readers will discover the secrets behind the success of Fortnite tournament champions benjyfishy and MrSavage, as told by the people that know them the best, their parents!

‘My dream ever since I was a kid was to be a pro gamer. I am grateful to have a supportive family and strong community that helped me make it happen.’
-benjyfishy

‘When I started out, joining an org and building a support team around me were super important. That gave me time to practise and win!’
-MrSavage

Anne Fish, mother of Benjy “benjyfishy” Fish, and Johnny Troset Andersen, father of Martin “MrSavage” Foss Andersen, were plunged into the world of esports when their sons transitioned from gaming enthusiasts to becoming pro-Fortnite players and duo partners. They soon found themselves signing contracts with esports organisations, and providing all the administrative and technical support it takes to manage a player and their business.

The content includes a balanced blend of key guidance and considerations alongside anecdotal stories. Chapter headings include Esports Organisations, 2019 Fortnite World Cup and Mental Attitude.

What people are saying

  • "As a parent of a young gamer, I recommend this book wholeheartedly. My son, who is 10 years old, is not a typical reader, but once given this book (as a Christmas present), he was captured from page one. The book gives a really good description about the world that interests him the most. The layout of the book, with many pictures, makes it also fun and easy to read. ‘Build it like benjyfishy & MrSavage’ also gives a valuable insight into the gaming world and esports to me as a mother who wants to support her son and his biggest interest. Highly recommended!”

  • "I am very impressed by this book and can fully recommend it to all parents of children who are interested in esports. The entire spectrum of esports is covered here. While written by parents of Fortnite players, the book covers esports as a whole and is not specifically focused on Fortnite. Various topics are addressed (nutrition, physical exercise, game PC setup, streaming, etc.), but also has many interviews with personalities from the esports scene. In addition, I also like the layout of the book, it has a lot of pictures and graphics and is very entertaining to read.”

  • “Those who reach the top of their field often has one thing in common: Support from their parents. Benjyfishy and MrSavage are no exception, though with the added difficulty of becoming superstars while still in their teens. The book chronicles their journey, giving tips for parents alongside behind the scenes-stories that are sure to ignite a kid's passion and motivation. It has a little bit of everything, for both gamers and parents alike.”

    - Jon Ludvig Hammer, Fortnite enthusiast, Chess Grandmaster and benjyfishy’s chess coach.

  • “A unique insight on the road to becoming a pro gamer - and what to do as a parent.”

    - Ola "elemeNt" Moum, former professional Counter-Strike player and multiple world champion. Member of Esports Hall of Fame.

  • “Insane. It was really good! I’m a big fan and I still learn a lot of things, I didn’t expect many things like the interviews! If you’re a big fan of these 2 gods - one advice - buy it, you will not regret it!”

  • "An educational and inspirational guide for aspiring pro-gamers and their parents alike. Anne and Johnny share their experiences and stories while accompanying their sons' stellar ascent in the world of Fortnite."

    - Cengiz Tüylü, MrSavage’s agent and advisor, and co-founder and former CEO of mousesports.

  • “Highly recommended for parents and children alike. I bought the book for myself (as the father of a boy who is enthusiastic about esports) and was very pleasantly surprised. The book covers all facets of esports: management, nutrition, interviews with big names from the scene, streaming, PC setup, sport and much more. One topic is even dedicated to the negative sides of esports. Since it is kept general, not only Fortnite players benefit from it, but everyone who is interested in this topic. And by the way, you get to know the two world-class players MrSavage and benjyfishy better. Even my son, who rarely read books, picks up the book from time to time and reads it. In addition, the book has a very high quality finish and contains countless pictures and graphics on over 230 pages. Absolute recommendation!”

  • “A pretty impressive gathering of information about the professional route through esports from those who are doing it themselves. It's obvious that there has been a steep learning curve, and not without some missteps. But they're pointed out so that they can be avoided by the rest of us.”
